CompTIA SecurityX, formerly CASP+, is CompTIA's expert-level cyber security certification for experienced professionals. Is CompTIA SecurityX the same as CASP+?
Yes. CompTIA renamed CASP+ (CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner) to SecurityX with the CAS-005 exam, launched in December 2024. People who already hold CASP+ keep their certification under the SecurityX name.
What is the CompTIA SecurityX exam code?
The current exam is CAS-005. It has up to 90 multiple-choice and performance-based questions, a 165-minute time limit, and is marked pass or fail with no scaled score.
Who is CompTIA SecurityX for?
SecurityX is an expert-level certification. CompTIA recommends at least 10 years of hands-on IT experience, including 5 years in security. It suits senior security engineers and people moving into security architect roles.
What does the SecurityX exam cover?
Four domains: governance, risk and compliance (20%), security architecture (27%), security engineering (31%) and security operations (22%).
Should I take Security+ or CySA+ before SecurityX?
There are no formal prerequisites, but knowledge at the level of CompTIA Security+, CySA+ and PenTest+ is strongly recommended. If you are earlier in your career, start with Security+.
