Work at Course2Career

We help people change career into IT, cyber security and data, and we are growing quickly. It is a job where the outcome is visible: somebody who was stuck ends up somewhere better. If that appeals, here is what we hire for and what it is actually like.

Course2Career is a rapidly growing UK training provider. We deliver accredited IT, cyber security, data and AI training with tutor support and recruitment support, mostly to people changing career rather than to people already in the industry.

Pace is the most important thing to know before you apply. We are growing quickly, which means your work is visible, you get real responsibility early, and duties can change at short notice as the business develops. Some people find that the best working environment they have had. Others prefer a role that stays exactly as it was described. It is worth being honest with yourself about which you are.

The roles we hire for

These are the four areas we recruit into. Whether any of them is open right now varies, so send something in and we will tell you straight.

Sales and enquiries

Course Advisor

The first proper conversation somebody has with us. You are working out what a career changer actually wants, whether we can deliver it, and telling them honestly when we cannot. This is a consultative role, not a script.

What we look for

  • Comfortable on the phone all day, because that is the job
  • Able to hold a conversation about IT careers without pretending to be a technician
  • Willing to talk someone out of the wrong programme

Course delivery

Tutor

Supporting students through CompTIA, Microsoft, Cisco and other certification content. Answering the questions that are stopping somebody dead, and knowing the difference between someone who needs an explanation and someone who needs encouragement.

What we look for

  • Hold the certifications you would be supporting, or equivalent industry experience
  • Able to explain the same concept three different ways
  • Patient with people who are learning this for the first time at 40

Career support

Recruitment Advisor

Working with students once their exams are passed. CV rebuilds, LinkedIn, interview preparation and helping people apply consistently rather than in bursts. Understanding what a UK hiring manager actually reads.

What we look for

  • Recruitment, resourcing or careers advice background
  • Able to rewrite a CV so it survives a screening process
  • Realistic with students about what the market will and will not do

Growth

Marketing and Content

Writing content that answers real questions rather than fills space. SEO, paid social, email and the analytics behind all of it. We would rather publish one page that is genuinely the best answer to a question than ten that are not.

What we look for

  • Can write clearly for people who are nervous about a big decision
  • Understands search intent, not just keywords
  • Comfortable being held to numbers

The honest version

Both columns come with growing quickly. Read the right hand one properly before you apply.

What is good about working here

  • The outcome is real and you see it. People send messages when they get the job
  • Your work is visible. Nothing disappears into a committee
  • You get responsibility faster than you would at an established provider, because the work is there to be taken
  • We sell career change, so we take it seriously when our own people want to grow
  • We would rather tell a customer the truth than close a bad sale, and that runs internally too

What is hard about it

  • Duties change as we grow. The role you join in may not be the role in twelve months
  • You will take on work outside your original job description, regularly
  • Priorities shift at short notice when the business needs them to
  • You are dealing with people making a significant financial decision, and sometimes they are anxious or unhappy. That takes something out of you
  • If you want a fixed remit and a clearly mapped ladder, a larger established provider will suit you better and we would rather say so now

What we care about when hiring

Straight talking

The training industry has a reputation problem and most of it is earned. We would rather lose a sale than oversell one. If you are comfortable telling somebody a course is not right for them, you will fit here.

Actually finishing things

Growing companies fill up with half done work faster than settled ones. We would take someone who reliably finishes over someone with better ideas who does not.

Understanding the customer

Our students are usually mid career, often nervous, often spending money they have thought hard about. If you cannot hold that in your head while you work, none of the rest matters.

Evidence over assertion

We would rather publish a number with a source on it than a claim without one. If you like being able to show why something is true, that is the culture.

How to apply

There is no portal and no long form. Email us.

  1. Send a CV and a few paragraphsEmail [email protected] with "Careers" in the subject line. Tell us which of the four areas you are interested in and why. A few honest paragraphs beat a polished covering letter that says nothing.
  2. We reply either wayIf there is nothing suitable we will say so rather than leave you waiting. We keep applications on file for six months and we do go back to them.
  3. An initial conversationA proper discussion about the role, the company and what you want. You should be interviewing us as much as the other way round.
  4. A task or scenarioRelevant to the actual job. A real CV to rewrite, a real enquiry to respond to, a real page to critique. Not a personality test.
  5. A longer discussion, then a decisionWe tell you where you stand at each stage, and if you get as far as a task you will hear back either way.

Common questions

Do you have vacancies at the moment?

It varies, and we would rather not maintain a page that says no. Send us a speculative application and we will tell you honestly whether there is anything now, whether there is likely to be, or whether there is not. We keep applications on file for six months and we do come back to people.

Are the roles remote, hybrid or office based?

It depends on the role and we will be clear about it before you apply. Tell us what you need when you get in touch and we will tell you straight away whether it works, rather than at the offer stage.

What is the company actually like?

Fast moving. We are growing quickly, which means your work is visible and you get real responsibility early. It also means duties evolve as the business does, and you will take on things that were not in the original job description. Some people find that energising and some find it unsettling, and it is worth being honest with yourself about which you are before applying.

Do I need to have worked in training or education before?

For tutor and recruitment roles the relevant experience matters. For advisor and marketing roles, no. Some of the best people in this industry came into it from something completely unrelated, which is rather the point of what we sell.

Do you take on people changing career?

Yes, and it would be strange if we did not, given what we do. If you are moving into a new field and can show us you have done the work to prepare, we will take that seriously.

What is your hiring process?

An initial conversation, then a task or scenario relevant to the role, then a longer discussion. We tell you where you stand at each stage. If you get to a task, you will hear back either way.

Nothing listed that fits? Send something anyway.

We would rather hear from good people at the wrong moment than not hear from them at all. Tell us what you do and what you are looking for, and we will tell you honestly whether we are likely to have anything.
