Your career roadmap
The realistic four-step path most successful UK candidates follow. Each step builds on the previous one — no shortcuts, but no fluff either.
- Step 1
Foundations first
AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner or Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900) — both are vendor-recognised entry-level certifications.
- Step 2
Build hands-on experience
CompTIA Cloud+ provides vendor-neutral cloud architecture, and you should pair it with practical AWS/Azure labs.
- Step 3
Move into Cloud Engineer / SysAdmin roles
Target Cloud Support Engineer, Cloud Operations or Junior Cloud Engineer first.
- Step 4
Specialise
AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Administrator (AZ-104) or DevOps tracks are the next stop. Linux skills become very important here.
