Who this is for
If you can claim ELCs, this is built for you.
This is for you if
- You are still serving and want a career lined up before you leave
- You left within the last five years — ten years if you left before 1 April 2016
- Army, Royal Navy, Royal Marines or RAF, any trade — no IT background needed
- You want the job at the end, not just the certificate
Not for you if
- You have used all three ELC claims already — see the FAQ, other funding may still apply
- You only want one certification — individual courses are covered further down
- You are outside your claim window and have no other resettlement funding
The maths
ELCAS pays 80%. Here's what that leaves you.
The full programme is £1,857. On the higher tier, your Enhanced Learning Credits cover £1,485.60 of it. Your share is £371.40. Bought piece by piece, the same nine courses, labs, tutoring and recruitment support come to £4,156.
ELCAS pays the other £1,485.60
Which tier am I? Higher tier is eight or more years of eligible service since 1 April 2000. Lower tier is six or more years (or four completed before 1 April 2017). Only service from April 2000 counts. Not sure? Put your years in the form and we'll tell you.
Why this and not another ELCAS course
Not just a course. A career.
Plenty of approved providers will take your claim and hand you a certificate. Three things happen here that don't happen on a course-only claim.
From Tech+ to CySA+ in the right order, so a beginner ends up analyst-level — not stuck at helpdesk with an A+ and nowhere to go.
Network+, Security+ and CySA+ exam vouchers are in the price. On many ELCAS courses the exam vouchers are an extra you pay for yourself.
Guaranteed route to job placement on completion. CV and LinkedIn rewrite, interview prep, and a recruitment team working suitable roles with you.
route to
job placement
Finish the programme and we work with you until you're placed.
Guaranteed Route to Job Placement on completion. This applies to this programme as stated here and in the programme brochure you receive before enrolling. Full conditions are in our Terms of Learning.
Read the Terms of Learning. Typical first roles: trainee cyber security analyst, security technician and SOC analyst.Your course and career advisor stays with you from enrolment to placement.
Why now
Your claim window is fixed. The financial year isn't waiting.
You get three ELC claims, one per financial year, and they only run while you're inside your window — five years from discharge (ten if you left before April 2016). A year you don't claim in is a claim you don't get back.
ELCAS also needs the claim in at least 25 clear working days before your start date, and it will not pay retrospectively — pay first and the claim is refused, no appeal. So the order is: quote, claim, then start. Never the other way round.
How the claim works
Four steps. We do the paperwork end.
Your status and years of service. That's enough for us to check your tier and eligibility the same day.
Course dates, cost and our provider number, in the format ELCAS asks for. You upload it with your claim.
Your Claim Authorisation Note is ELCAS saying yes. Send it to us and we book you in.
£371.40 on the higher tier. Your login, tutor and labs go live, and the clock on your placement route starts.

Questions ELCAS people actually ask
Before you send the form.
Am I eligible for ELCAS?
Serving personnel and service leavers with six or more years of eligible service since 1 April 2000 (or four years completed before 1 April 2017). Leavers can claim for five years after discharge, ten if you left before 1 April 2016. Put your years in the form and we'll confirm your tier the same day.
What if I'm on the lower tier?
ELCAS pays £1,000 towards the £1,857 programme, so your share is £857. Many leavers put IRTC or their resettlement grant towards that — ELC itself can't be used for your own contribution, but other resettlement funding can.
Does “no IT experience” really mean none?
Yes. The programme starts at CompTIA Tech+ and A+ and builds to CySA+. Plenty of students start with no IT background at all. If you've run kit, kept comms up or done any signals or engineering trade, you're ahead of where you think.
How long does it take, and can I study while serving?
Most people finish in six to nine months with twelve months' access, online and self-paced. Study around postings, on resettlement leave or after you leave — nothing is timetabled.
What does the guaranteed route to job placement mean?
Guaranteed Route to Job Placement on completion. This applies to this programme as stated here and in the programme brochure you receive before enrolling. Full conditions are in our Terms of Learning. Read the Terms of Learning.
Which exams are included, and does ELCAS fund exams?
Network+, Security+ and CySA+ exam vouchers are included in the £1,857, which is why they are covered by the claim. On a course-only provider the exam vouchers are usually a separate charge you pay yourself.
What jobs does this lead to?
Trainee cyber security analyst, security technician and SOC analyst roles, alongside IT support and service desk roles for people who want a stepping stone. Analysts earn £35,000–£76,000 according to the National Careers Service.
Can I use my ELCs on just one course instead?
Yes — Security+, CySA+, A+, Network+ and PenTest+ are each ELCAS-approved on their own. Prices are below. The individual courses don't include the placement route; that comes with the full programme.
Are you actually an approved provider?
Yes — Course2Career is ELCAS provider 14012, and you can check us on the ELCAS provider search. Our programmes are Level 3 or above, which is what ELCAS requires.
Only want one certification?
ELCAS covers our individual courses too.
If you already work in IT, or you're topping up a specific skill, you can put a claim against a single course. Same 80% split. You just don't get the placement route — that's what the full programme buys you.
Not cyber? ELCAS also funds our Project Management, IT Support and Data programmes. See every ELCAS-approved option.
